Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2025-12-20

Hey! 👋 We’ll keep this simple. Radar Dating is built to help people meet in real life, and we take privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and what choices you have.

TL;DR

  • We collect only what we need to run Radar (profile info + location when Radar is on).
  • Your precise location is used for the map and matching, and shown to others only in an approximate way.
  • You can set private zones (geofence) so you’re invisible in places like home or work.
  • We do not sell your personal data or your location data.
  • You can delete your account anytime. We delete your data within 1 month (usually within about a week).

1) Who we are

Radar Dating is currently operated by goodpecker (pre-company), planning registration in Lithuania.

If you have privacy questions, contact us at: hi@radardating.com

2) Where this policy applies

This policy applies to Radar Dating, including our website and app (together, the “Service”).

3) What data we collect

Data you give us

  • Account info: email, password (stored securely), and verification status
  • Profile info: name, date of birth (to confirm you are 18+), gender, preferences (who you want to meet), languages, bio, “what makes you laugh”, and relationship intentions
  • Photos: your profile photo
  • Reports & support: messages you send to support or reports you submit about other users

Data we collect automatically

  • Device and usage data: basic technical info needed to run the Service (for example, device/browser type, IP address, app errors, and logs)
  • Essential cookies: only what’s needed for the Service to function (no advertising cookies)

Location data (very important for Radar)

  • Precise location (GPS): used when Radar is active to show nearby compatible people and power features like geofence
  • Approximate location to other users: we might show your exact GPS location to other users
  • No location history: we do not build a historical timeline of where you’ve been. We use your current/last known location to run the map experience.

4) Why we use your data

We use your data to:

  • Create and maintain your account and profile
  • Match you with compatible people (based on mutual preferences like age range and gender)
  • Power the Radar map and show nearby compatible users
  • Provide privacy features like geofenced private zones
  • Keep the Service safe (moderation, preventing abuse, responding to reports)
  • Fix bugs, prevent spam/fraud, and keep the Service running reliably
  • Communicate with you about important updates (like account or security-related messages)

No ads. No selling data. We don’t sell your personal data and we never sell location data.

5) Who we share data with

We share data only when it’s necessary to operate Radar, such as:

  • Service providers: hosting and infrastructure providers (for example, Firebase) to store and deliver the Service
  • Google Maps API: to display maps and enable location-based features (only what’s required to make the map work)

We may also share information if required by law (for example, responding to valid legal requests).

6) What other users can see

Radar is designed for real-life meeting, but privacy matters:

  • Other users can see your profile details you choose to share (like name, photo, bio, languages)
  • Your exact might be shown to other users
  • You may only appear to people who match your preferences (mutual compatibility)

7) Safety, moderation, and reports

We want Radar to feel respectful and safe.

  • Users can report other users
  • We may review some profiles and reports to prevent abuse, spam, or harmful behavior
  • We may restrict or remove accounts that violate our rules or use clearly fake identities (for example, fake names)

8) Your choices and rights (GDPR)

If you’re in the EU/EEA (and often elsewhere too), you have rights over your data, including:

  • Access: request a copy of your data
  • Correction: fix inaccurate profile data
  • Deletion: delete your account and personal data
  • Objection / restriction: ask us to limit certain processing
  • Portability: request your data in a portable format

To make a request, email hi@radardating.com.

9) Data retention (how long we keep it)

We keep your data only as long as needed to operate Radar.

If you delete your account:

  • We delete your personal data within 1 month, usually within about 1 week, unless we must keep limited data longer for legal or safety reasons (for example, to handle fraud or abuse cases).

10) Children’s privacy

Radar is 18+ only. We do not knowingly allow users under 18. If you believe someone is under 18, please report them.

11) International users

Radar starts in Europe but is available globally. If you use Radar from outside the EU, your data may be processed in other countries. We take steps to protect your data and follow GDPR requirements where applicable.

12) Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as Radar grows. If changes are important, we’ll notify you in the app or on the website.

FAQ

Got Questions? We’ve Got Answers

1. Is Radar safe to use?

Yes. Safety and privacy are core to how Radar works.
You control where you’re visible using geofence zones, so places like home or work stay private. We also do routine profile checks to reduce fake or low-effort accounts and keep the experience respectful.

2. How does Radar protect my privacy?

Radar only shows you to people who match your preferences, and only when you choose to be visible.
There’s no public feed, no scraping, and no selling your data. You’re in control at all times.

3. How much does it cost?

Radar will be free to use during the early phase.
In the future, we plan to introduce optional premium features, but the core experience will always stay accessible.

4. Why is there no chat?

People are designed to connect in real-life, not on apps. Instead of endless messaging, we help remove the awkwardness so the first conversation happens face to face, where chemistry actually matters.

5. Who is Radar for?

Radar is for people who want to meet naturally in real life, but appreciate a bit of clarity before making the first move. If you’re tired of guessing and overthinking, Radar is for you.

6. What makes Radar different?

We don’t try to keep you scrolling.
Radar is built to work once - help you meet someone and then get out of the way.
